Deadpool has reappeared for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, in the last tease before he gets added in as the game’s first DLC character.
In a little clip on Twitter, Deadpool references the last time he showed up on a tweet for the game (because of course he would), tells a tall tale about being on vacation, and reads his lines about the upcoming DLC off a clear screen.
The Marvel’s Midnight Suns Twitter account then shared this official message:
“Tune in January 19 at 9am PT for the full details on the first DLC for #MidnightSuns containing yours truly.”
This teaser ends with a small preview pic of the four DLC characters. Deadpool joins Venom, Morbius, and Storm, with the requisite black and gold costumes made for the Midnight Suns (complete with Deadpool’s wizard hat).
It should also be noted that Marvel’s Midnight Suns played fast and loose with the Marvel continuity. Gamers who played through the campaign already know that Johnny Blaze and Hulk both have surprising turns into villains in the game. It also had a surprising team up of characters happens that doesn’t quite match what the comics that had the Midnight Sons/Midnight Suns storylines had in their pages, but is an interesting story in its own right.
So it should be notable that Eddie Brock is part of the main campaign as one of the bad guys. While you fight and meet several different villains in the course of the game, Eddie doesn’t quite change sides by the time the game ends.
This suggests that Eddie is going to have a unique story of his own when he appears as DLC. It may be the case that Eddie’s campaign will show the events of the game and his actions from his perspective. But it’s more likely that Eddie gets a completely new narrative set after the game’s ending.
And it’s likely that that would also be the case for the other DLC characters in the coming season pass. There is no convenient way to add in Deadpool, Morbius, and Storm in the narrative that already existed in the main campaign, but giving them new storylines is also an excuse to add in new characters and villains.
There’s a lot of potential in that too, as we could see villains like Carnage, Vic Slaughter, T-Ray, and Shadow King, the DLC characters’ biggest enemies. They may be obscure for non-Marvel fans, but that just makes them even better to introduce in the game.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is playable now on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam and Epic Games Store.
