The Division’s Launch Plagued By Uplay Downtime

March 8, 2016 by Ryan Parreno

Ubisoft has confirmed reports that Uplay services went down, affecting servers for Rainbow Six Siege and Tom Clancy’s The Division across all platforms. As of this writing, servers are available again.

We’re currently aware of an issue impacting our games and services and we’re actively investigating. More details: https://t.co/z6ixqsjkHR

Since Tom Clancy’s The Division launch last midnight, Uplay services went down and stayed down for several hours. Ubisoft reported that they identified and fixed the initial issue as of 2 AM, and are now actively monitoring the server status. As several players attest to, several servers are back up, meaning some players can play and even stream Tom Clancy’s The Division, but not everyone can access the servers. Meanwhile, Rainbow Six Siege servers were also affected, leaving gamers playing those games also unable to play. Both Rainbow Six Siege and Tom Clancy’s The Division were designed for online multiplayer, so while the servers are unavailable or have limited availability, both games are effectively unplayable.

If you bought Tom Clancy’s The Division, you may already be able to log on and play as of this writing. Several players are streaming and sharing pictures of themselves playing via #PS4Share. We’re sharing some sample tweets below.

Tom Clancy’s The Division was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you have Nvidia graphics card, you will want to upgrade your drivers for Game Ready support. You can also read up on our guides on how to level up quickly and how to earn Dark Zone credits.
