AEW Fight Forever Getting Big Update At Next PPV

November 9, 2022 by Todd Black

Oh, and about that Xbox Game Pass announcement…

The wrestling landscape has changed for the better and worse over the last few years. Many would argue it was at one of its lowest points a few years back due to the lack of quality of brands like WWE. They were pushing bad wrestling, bad wrestlers, and terrible storylines. While there were other brands, it wasn’t the same, and people needed another option. That’s where AEW came in, and three years into their run, they’re still going strong. So much so that they’re going to release a video game for the first time in AEW Fight Forever.

The title is still being worked on, but all the teases and gameplay footage from the game show a fun time being had. Plus, it won an award at Gamescom a few months back. Fans are eager to get their hands on it and want to know when it’ll release. While we don’t have an answer for a release date right now, that might change soon. The AEW Games Twitter handle posted yesterday that there is something big coming next weekend, and they also clarified another piece of news:

This also seems like a good time to share that we don't anticipate #AEWFightForever being part of any monthly gaming subscription services.

AEW: Fight Forever will be available in store at your favorite retailers or online. Reserve your copy today at: https://t.co/Nv3IuMVxiN

It seems as though the next AEW PPV will be the spot where they possibly unveil the release date. They promised it would be out this year, so we’ll see if they’re keeping that promise soon. As for the Xbox Game Pass statement, that announcement got a lot of people talking. Apparently, it’s not true. But, of course, AEW Games is the official handle for their gaming division, so if they’re saying it’s not true, they mean it.

That’s not to say that the game won’t come to the Xbox Game Pass later. It’s just that it won’t be coming out at launch.

The need for AEW Fight Forever to be successful cannot be stated enough. They’ve been plugging this game for a while now, and some of the heads of the game, like wrestler Kenny Omega, are promising a fun and endearing experience like the wrestling games of old. Plus, WWE hasn’t been knocking their own games out of the park in recent years. They even took a year off to try and reinvent their gaming series before giving it a new look and feel.

Plus, with WWE now getting its act together wrestling-wise, AEW is now under pressure to keep delivering, and having a successful video game would be a big feather in their cap.
