It’s finally launch day for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and as expected, players are diving into the highly popular shooter left right and centre. For those picking up the newest instalment of the long-running FPS franchise on PlayStation consoles though, there are some extra bonuses to be had.
As reported previously, Sony and Activision had already revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be launching with some PlayStation-exclusive content. This is down to a well-established marketing partnership between the two companies, meaning that those on PlayStation consoles would get access to some specific benefits and in-game bonuses ahead of those playing on other platforms.
This has been the case once more with the release of Modern Warfare 2, with Activision and Sony finally detailing the exact bonuses PlayStation gamers can expect to get hold of today as part of the game’s launch. This is on top of the previously revealed Oni Operator Pack, which was made available to players who had pre-ordered the game for PS4 and PS5 through the PlayStation Store before today’s launch.
PlayStation gamers can expect to obtain the following benefits and rewards as part of their purchase.
- Battle Pass Bundle Bonus – PlayStation players that purchase a Battle Pass Bundle will get an additional 5 tier skips, for a total of 25 tier skips. This will allow them to unlock new items and rewards faster.
- Combat Packs – Get a free in-game bundle each Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 season. Includes such items as an Operator Skin, Weapon Blueprint, Emblem and much more. Limited time only for PlayStation Plus members.
- Double XP Points – PlayStation gamers will get exclusive Monthly Double XP events (24 hr duration).
- PlayStation Party Bonus – PlayStation players that play together in parties receive +25% bonus weapon XP. The bonus still counts when playing with cross-platform teammates.
- Extra Loadouts – PlayStation players get an additional 2 loadout slots, ready for customization. Available when Create-A-Class unlocks upon reaching Level 4.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has seen its single-player campaign go live early for a week for those who had pre-ordered the game. As part of today’s full release of the title comes the game’s much-anticipated multiplayer and Spec Ops modes, which players across the globe will have been eagerly looking forward to. While the gaming community settles into a new chapter of the Modern Warfare 2 saga, others will be looking ahead to November 19, when Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be released. It’s been rumoured that Warzone 2.0 will eventually feature maps based on locations from the main campaign in Modern Warfare 2, but we’ll just have to wait and see further down the line.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
