New Trailer For Twilight Princess HD Shows Off Graphics Upgrade

February 12, 2016 by Holly Green

Also: find out what the Gamepad will be able to do with this shiny new version of Twilight Princess.

The Gamecube-to-Wii original The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is getting an HD Wii U remake…but how much better could it really look on Nintendo hardware? This latest gameplayer trailer will answer that question, providing a solid look at the difference between the game’s old and new graphics. It also shows off some of the new gameplay features, particularly the Gamepad integration.

As with other remakes of Legend of Zelda games that have come to this generation of consoles, for example Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask on the Nintendo 3DS, this remastered version of Twilight Princess will make use of the second screen for maps and item selection. This eliminates the laborious process of constantly pausing the game to switch weapons or check your location. As the trailer illustrates, the integration is flawless, provided you have fast fingers. The Gamepad can also be used to aim Link’s bow.

As previously reported, Twilight Princess HD will feature a new Hero’s Mode, which will eliminate heart drops and double the damage in combat. There will also be collectible stamps scattered throughout Hyrule for you to find. These stamps feature the Hylian language and can be used to post on the Miiverse.

If you’re an obsessive amiibo collector, you’ll have a lot of extra bonuses in the game. The Wolf amiibo, which comes with physical copies of the game, will unlock an exclusive area, called The Cave Of Shadows. The Link and Toon Link amiibos, meanwhile, will replenish Link’s arrows and the Zelda and Shiek amiibo will replenish all of his hearts. And if you want an extra challenge, the Ganondorf amiibo will give you one, in the form of added damage to Link’s health in combat.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess comes out March 4, 2016. For more on some of the improvements that are coming to the game, be sure to check out our recent story on its improved handling.
