Splatoon 3 is just days away from release, and many people are excited, especially after the events of the Splatfest World Premiere where gamers got a chance to not only play the game competitively in a Splatfest for the first time in years but got to test out some of the new features of the game such as the Tri-Color Battles. But for those who are wondering if you should get a physical or digital copy of the game, Nintendo wants to help make that decision a little easier for you by offering a special reward. If you go get the digital version of the game, that is.
As most Nintendo fans know, MyNintendo is the Big N’s newer version of a rewards program. If you get enough gold or platinum coins with them, you can buy certain things, or get discounts on others. The gold coins for example are mostly used to give people a lower price on games by cashing them in. The more gold coins you have? The cheaper your next game purchase will be.
Thus, Nintendo is offering a bonus on gold coins if you go and buy Splatoon 3 digitally before the end of the month. It notes on its website that you’ll get double the gold coins, which will give you a boost no matter what. They also were sure to note that if you have already pre-ordered the game digitally, you’ll still get the bonus coins.
There are many ways you can look at this, but the biggest one is that they’re trying to entice people to buy the game no matter what, though there have been many developers trying to encourage players to go digital overall for a while now. This includes offering some very substantial rewards for going for the digital version over the physical version.
That being said, you could argue that with Splatoon 3 fans, they don’t need much coaxing. The Splatfest World Premiere was just the icing on the cake, the prelude to the battles that were to come. Most of them already know that they’re getting the game because the title is very fun, and looks to add even more to what came before to ensure that it’s enjoyable for some time.
What are gamers looking the most forward to? It’s hard to say. Is it how Salmon Run is going to be available 24/7 now and not just at certain points of the day? Or how there’s going to be a special card game that you can play against others? Or the various new customization options that players are going to toy with so that they can truly express themselves in the title? There are also just the standard game modes that have more than carried the weight of the franchise since its arrival.
