One of the founding fathers of video game industry, Nolan Bushnell, who founded Atari back in 1972 has returned to the ailing company by taking a place on its Board of Directors.
In a press statement, Nolan said,
I am very excited to be reacquainted with Atari at a time when it is poised to make interesting strides in key growth areas of the games industry. The company and its iconic brands have always been important to me, and I look forward to further guiding them at the board level.
The man behind the Atari 2600 game console, Nolan Bushnell was forced out in 1978 after a management dispute and during his time out founded another 20 companies including Chuck E. Cheese’s. Could we see a change of fortunes for Atari? Only time will tell.
Bushnell and Virden will be filling the positions left open by Gardner and CEO Harrison.
