No, we will not be seeing the new Starfield game this year after it was officially announced to be delayed until 2023. But just when you thought the dark cloud was permanently above the game’s head, fresh news has come in that Bethesda is currently “putting the finishing touches on the game.” That’s something, right?
It was recently reported by the director of the game that the team behind Starfield is approaching the finish line. Todd Howard himself has expressed unabashed excitement about the game and thinks it will be nothing short of ground-breaking.
Howard said, “Our ability to transport people and to put them in a new world where they can have the experiences that – for the moment that you’re in them – they feel real for what they are, and the emotions you have.” He explained, “We’ve seen that with our other franchise like The Elder Scrolls, or the Fallout series. Our relationship with Xbox is stronger than ever, and they will make Starfield an unbelievable experience.” To hear progress like this – even if it is just a little bit – is good for fans who had lost all hope.
As it stands, Starfield is expected to come out within the first half of 2023, however, one valiant Reddit user has spotted – with his extreme eagle eyes – that on the Game Pass sign-up screen it shows the game’s release date as being “early 2023.”
June 12th is when the Xbox showcase is set to air, and for the event not to mention anything Starfield-related would be a crime against gaming. Don’t get your hopes up about any brand-new information–we know how Bethesda operates.
