The day has finally come, as Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness has finally arrived in theaters. And because of that, fans from all over are going to rush in and see all that it has to offer. Director Sam Raimi has been doing a lot of hyping for the movie himself as you would expect from a director. But the twist here is that he also let slip a key thing about the film…the deleted scenes.
We say that because he revealed that not only are there deleted scenes that would likely be in a home release, but that those scenes might have been part of the films original longer runtime.
“I’m trying to remember what Marvel is including in the deleted scenes. It’s really going to be their decision, but I know that there are at least two or three deleted scenes that will be included,” Raimi said. “I don’t know the full extent of them though.”
“Well, the first cut was I actually don’t remember the length of it. It was probably like two hours and 40 minutes, and it slowly came down even though we did the reshoots,” the director explained. “We took out material even though the reshoots went in. So, it slowly got down to about two hours and five minutes is the total.”
That’s a huge chunk of things getting taken out, wouldn’t you say? And many people have wondered why the Doctor Strange film only was about 2 hours long. Well, now you know. It was originally longer, but then reshoots and other things cut it down to size if you will.
Obviously we can’t know if ALL the deleted scenes from the cut will be in home video features. But if they are, it’ll be curious to see what they left out.
