Star Wars Battlefront: Walker Assault Mode Explained

July 12, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The game enters several phases, and the Rebels are generally on the offensive for this one.

Are you still bewildered by the Walker Assault game mode in Star Wars Battlefront? We have an explanation of how the mode works, thanks to YouTube channel BattlefrontUpdates. You can subscribe to them on their YouTube channel here.

Walker Assault is a truly atypical game mode, as it involves several phases that repeat themselves. The Rebels take out uplinks to summon Y-Wings, the Walkers arrive in a key location, the Y-Wings strike the Walkers, and then the whole thing starts over. This plays out in several key locations in the map three times. Walker Assault ends when the Walkers make it to the shield generator, or if the Rebels take them out before this happens.

In this mode, the Rebels are generally in the offensive, and the Empire in the defensive. Each phase starts with one location with two uplinks. Rebels have to secure, and then lock in the uplinks to get themselves an extra Y-Wing. Locking in an uplink takes 45 seconds, and Rebels have to ensure they keep control of the uplink to keep their Y-Wings.

When the Walkers arrive, the Rebels get a timer, with as much as two minutes, warning them that uplinks are expiring. Once the uplinks are done, they bring in the Y-Wing fighters, that strike down on the Walkers. Every uplink the Rebels secure gives them an extra Y-Wing.

After the Y-Wings leave, the Rebels get some extra time to strike and see if they can take the Walkers down. This usually lasts 10 seconds, but every extra Y-Wing fighter earns the Rebels an extra ten seconds.

Star Wars Battlefront will be released on November 17, 2015, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
