Bloodborne Demake Dev Adding Cheats, Functional Keyboard

December 28, 2021 by Carley Garcia

Lilith Walther is doing God’s work.

In early November 2021, news broke that a Bloodborne demake would be coming to the PC for free in January 2022. Developed by a single developer Lilith Walther, the game will include Bloodborne‘s first area and will end after the second boss fight with Father Gascoigne. Everything, from the beasts to the main character’s movements has been faithfully reproduced with that quintessential PlayStation 1 aesthetic. This is all impressive enough, but Walther isn’t finished just yet–in a recent Twitter post, the creator teased a few new assets being added to the upcoming title. What would a classic game be without cheats?

Today's #BloodbornePSX dev thread is all about cheats! There are a few cheats already made and just waiting for an interface to unlock them, so to start I made a fully functioning keyboard from scratch.

It took forever.

Entering cheat codes is much easier with a fully-functional digital keyboard, so Walther has added that as well. While some of these cheats may prove to be useful, many are recreations of popular cosmetic alterations such as ‘big head’ mode. One will turn the main chracter’s hands into Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robot fists for yet another injection of nostalgia. Players will also be able to change the flow of time in the game, as well as engage a mode that makes enemy dogs cease their attacks. Given that the demake is over a month away from release, additional changes and additions might be made before players get their hands on this impressive project.

For those who missed the release date trailer, it’s damn impressive.

The creator has also uploaded a video showing the first ten minutes of the demake, complete with the PSX boot-up screen and the Bloodborne title screen. Players will still be able to design their character, and certain game moments will engage an ‘adventure game’ style camera.

Bloodborne was originally released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4. In the past year, rumors regarding a remake or current-gen port have continued to make their rounds across the internet, though no official statement from FromSoftware has been made. The incredibly impressive Bloodborne demake will release on the PC for free on January 31, 2022.
