Evolve: Turtle Rock Explains Some Fight Or Flight Strategies

February 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Hunter or monster side, you are well served following your fight or flight instincts. The trick is assessing which action is best in a particular situation.

Turtle Rock Studios have shared a new video with some tips for Evolve.

Hunter or monster side, you are well served following your fight or flight instincts. With some proper strategies, you will be better able to assess when to take which of the two actions.

Case in point; when the hunters chase after the monsters, they actually cede control of the situation over to the opposing side. The monsters can take advantage by laying traps for the hunters. So, monsters should pick up armor and find a good ambush point, such as from high above.

Monsters can also execute one strike on a hunter after he or she gets incapacitated. This will lead to a permanent health reduction for said hunter.

As a monster, you should take advantage and keep striking hunters while you have armor. The moment the armor drops, the advantage shifts 180 degrees to hunters who can wear you down from relative distances.

Now, in some situations, a monster might be attacking hunters while losing health. This seems to be an equal fight, but the moment the hunters are down to one, and a dropship arrives, those odds will balance out fast. Of course, if you are that solo hunter, you will want to get away, because your team may eventually win the war, but not if there’s no one left in the field.

On the flip side, the hunters may have advantage over the monster in a fight, but the moment the monster kills the medic, the hunters lose their relative safety. Hunters need to decide quickly if it’s best to disengage or if it’s worth the risk to finish the job then and there.

Evolve will be released on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, on February 10.
