CD Projekt Red Will Double The Team Size For Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Next Year

November 27, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Currently, there are only 64 developers on the project.

Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 can rest easy. While the game had a troublesome launch, it has managed to turn itself around. Now, the focus is on a few projects related to the IP, including a live-action adaptation. However, beyond that, we know that a new video game project is coming out from CD Projekt Red, hopefully giving fans another taste of Night City.

We don’t know much about Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel. CD Projekt Red has been working on this game for a while now. This game production might be a little more notable because it’s being developed in a new studio location. If you don’t recall, the developers have opened another location in Boston. So now, this new game is being developed in North America, but the team actively working on the project is not as expansive as you might have assumed.

A lot goes into development, and before production gets full steam ahead, a small group of developers are working on the project. Thanks to GamesRadar, we’re finding out that CD Projekt Red held an investor call recently, during which the subject of how the Boston studio only has 64 developers working on the game came up.

We do not have any issues here apart from regular [problems] scouting for talent that is normal in Poland and in the US. The current team size aligns with our needs, and we plan to further expand the size of the team next year. We actually plan to double the team by the end of the next year. – CD Projekt Red

The studio is easing investors’ concerns, noting that this is about what to expect from a game project at this point. However, it’s noted that the goal right now is to see the size double by this time next year. Still, even with this many people developing the game, it will likely be years away before it’s ready to land in the marketplace.

We know that CD Projekt Red had recently entered full-scale production of their next big title release, The Witcher 4. However, we’re still waiting to learn more about what the next saga of The Witcher series will take players.
