Dark Souls Steam Patched To Allow Multiplayer Outside Home Region

January 21, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

It also eliminates a bug that causes crashes when you open up the Book of Guilty.

From Software has fixed an issue with Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition stemming from their transfer from GFWL to Steam.

What happened was that players were stuck with multiplayer only with people in the same region. It wasn’t a dealbreaker but it was a serious bug, and could have impacted some players who owned the game in smaller gaming regions.

The latest fix removes said region lock. It also eliminates a bug that causes crashes when you open up the Book of Guilty. Thankfully, installing the patch is a simple matter of enabling autoupdates and running the game.

How have you been enjoying Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition since the switch to Steam? What other issues have you seen pop up? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
