Dying Light Will Run At 1080P 30 FPS, Here’s Why

December 14, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Techland pins it down to the Natural Movement system.

Dying Light senior game producer Adrian Ciszewski has taken to the game's official Facebook page to reveal and explain the game's resolution and framerate.

The game will run at 1080p, 30FPS, and it all boils down to Techland's implementation of the Natural Movement system. This system will allow you to accomplish incredible parkour at beyond human levels in the game, including jumping between rooftops, climbing buildings. The game itself moves at a fast pace, and with this system in pace, the computing demands are made even greater.

Locking the game at 30 FPS allows Techland to keep the game looking consistent and playable, and as they say, the upside is that they are able to bring the game at 1080p resolution.

As you can imagine, the comments section on this post are filled with a lot of unhappy gamers. Many fans feel that next gen consoles are actually not capable of outputting 60FPS 1080p, even if some games are capable and advertised to be doing so.

For Techland, this decision was made to ensure that they could bring the game with all the features they wanted in it. How do you feel about this choice? Do you think the game should spend more time in development, or is Techland right to stay on schedule on an already delayed game? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

Dying Light will be released on January 27, 2015 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
