Stars Beyond Reach is SimCity Meets Civilization

October 31, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The Last Federation dev returns with a new 4x sci-fi strategy.

The game formally known as Spectral Empire is back as Stars Beyond Reach: This World is Mine.

Stars Beyond Reach is being developed by The Last Federation and AI Wars dev Arcen Games, and CEO, Lead Programmer, and Lead Designer Chris Park says this time, they've got a true 4x game on their hands.

Park describes the strategy title as SimCity meets Civilization and likes the latest games in Sid Meier's long running series, Stars Beyond Reach will feature maps comprised of hexes.

In the game you'll have access to "4x, hexes, hex-shaped map, 14 races planned (8 playable), 3 leader options per race, no units (think SimCity), sci-fi but planet based, and (probably) co-op multiplayer."

You can find out more about the game on Arcen's website. Stars Beyond Reach is set for release in April or May 2015, and until then you can have a look at our 10/10 Civilization Beyond Earth review if you're looking a hex based sci-fi strategy game.
