Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix Trailer Shows History of Series

October 8, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

A new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix shows us the history of the franchise.

Back in 2002, Kingdom Hearts began to appear in headlines across the globe. Nobody was really sure what to think of a game whose main feature was a crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy characters. There were naysayers and critics, but in the end this new intellectual property took the gaming industry by storm. The franchise expanded into an arsenal of different entries, each having that unique brand of Kingdom Hearts eccentricity that gamers have now come to know and love.

However, there are many – myself included – who feel that the series has gone on for far too long without a console iteration. While the handheld versions have most assuredly pushed the game's plot along, many gamers feel that it's just not the same experience. When Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced during last year's E3 Expo, Square Enix won a lot of fans back. Although, they probably lost just as many because the game wasn't going to release for another two years.

Now, we're a bit further along in the development process. Nomura has stated that he is bringing a lot of passion to KH3, which should say something about him and his development team. As KH3 and its release grow closer, Square Enix has had to devise a way to fill gamers in who have not played the handheld versions. This is being accomplished through the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, which will supposedly bridge the gap for gamers who stopped playing after Kingdom Hearts 2. This game could also be a useful tool for those who simply want to brush up on their history before KH3 comes out. Personally, playing through a game just to play catch-up seems a bit like a chore to me, but I'll be buying into the experience because I want to get the most out of KH3 playthrough.

Check out the new trailer, titled "Introducing the Magic" and look for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix on store shelves in December later this year.
