Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS just launched today in North America, but Japan has been enjoying it for three weeks now. And if its sales performance in the Land of the Rising Sun is any indication, the game will be pulling down some seriously massive numbers in the rest of the world. It's doing so well, in fact, that Smash is completely sold out in Japan!
According to Japanese chart tracker Media Create, Smash sold 944,644 units its first week, 321,363 its second, and 109,811 its third, for a cumulative total of just over 1.37 million. If very neary sold through its entire initial stock that first week, which means subsequent weeks have been subjected to shortages, especially the most recent one. At least digital purchasing is an option this time.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is in stores out West as we speak. The Wii U version might come November 21.
