Microsoft is offering three games this October for Xbox Live Games with Gold, including one entrant from their ID@Xbox program.
Replacing Super Time Force for Xbox One is Chariot, a completely new coop platformer. Playing the Princess and/or her Fiance, you cart around the recently deceased king’s coffin in the eponymous chariot, across five environments and 25 levels. The game features physics based gameplay, exploration, fast paced ride sequences, lots of loot, and humor as the curmudgeonly king’s spirit eggs them on to fill up his coffin with treasure before he finally goes for good. The game will be free all month for Xbox One.
Xbox 360 owners get two games, starting with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The game will be available from October 1 to 15. Preston Marlowe and the rest of B Company squad returns, in a new mission to recover some scalar technology. This story driven single player campaign goes as far back as 1944. Bad Company 2 also offered game modes for competitive multiplayer involving two teams, with four members for each team. These came with their exclusive awards and achievements. ATVs and transport helicopters also added new layers to multiplayer tactics.
Finally, on October 16 to 30, Xbox 360 owners can nab Darksiders 2, Vigil Games’ last work. In events parallel to the story of the first game, Death moves to absolve his brother War of his crimes by seeking to resurrect humanity. Death’s epic trek takes him to the roots of creation, and discovering the evil that had set the end of humanity in motion. Vigil was a promising studio prior to its dissolution, and the Darksiders IP offers great promise yet. While fans wait to see if Nordic Games can do the franchise justice, they can get the game pro bono on Xbox 360 soon.
