Not even gamescom could stop the Smash Bros. train from rolling! Next stop: Meta Knight Central! Yesterday, the Racer X to Kirby's Speed Racer was finally confirmed to be returning to the ring. Smashers who played him back in Brawl ought to remember that he was more than a little overpowered compared to everyone else. He has been nerfed significantly this time around, starting with his Up Special — the Shuttle Loop — which no longer allows Meta Knight to glide.
Tuesday's update explained the purpose of the Special Flag item that was introduced alongside Pac-Man:
The flag, which originated in Namco's Rally-X arcade game, appears to only grant you an extra KO or life if you hold it for an extended period. From director Masahiro Sakurai's description, you may be completely vulnerable during that time.
And then there is today's update, starring the Blue Bomber himself:
As explained before, the new Smash will allow players to customize their fighters movesets. Mega Man's custom moves come from a pool of even more Robot Master weapons that aren't featured in his default set. We see Plant Man's Plant Barrier from Mega Man 6, which assumedly replaces the Leaf Shield as the Down Special. We also see the support bird Beat, who appears to be an alternate Up Special instead of Rush Coil.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will touch down on October 3, with the Wii U build coming later in winter.
