Assassin’s Creed Unity: Utility Belt, Catacombs, And More

August 11, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

There are a few things about Unity that aren’t apparent at first glance.

We have some new details for Assassin’s Creed Unity. Again, we try to overlap here, but there is new stuff we – and possibly you – may have missed.

You may have heard that Ubisoft is letting you play in Revolutionary Paris’ sewers, but that was not entirely accurate. What they actually did was recreate the Paris catacombs. These walls housed several generations of Paris’ dead, dating from as far back as Roman times, and of course, including many people from the Revolution itself. Arno will be able to roam these catacombs freely, and perhaps add his own contribution.

Well, we’ve talked a lot about what Ubi’s doing toUnity’s characters, but they do claim they are not casting Arno in all the familiar action video game tropes. He will talk like a person, not like a Deadpool or a Duke Nukem.

We may have heard hints of this before, but the modern day half of the game will start a new cycle, as it were, and it’s described as very surprising. If this surprise is going to be the Assassins working with the Templars, in some Invisibles-style twists, it really is not a surprise anymore though.

Arno is going Batman utility belt. You will be able to customize the belt so that you can have more items on hand. Don’t expect any Bat-alphabet soup containers though.

Just to give you an idea of the amount of  power they’re utilizing, the game will have as much as 30,000 people on screen.

While Arno goes through a story of self discovery and growth, the coop missions have a distinct direction. Arno and his fellow Assassins are actually investigating the Templars.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set for release on October 28th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
