There are quite a few series and movies coming out from video game adaptations. These projects really blew up recently and while there are always past examples of where adaptations never really made a big impact, this latest movement may change things. We have the success of Sonic the Hedgehog hit the big screen and now there’s an influx of projects currently in productions.
While Sonic the Hedgehog may have been a hit for families, other mature works are coming out that could prove to be a hit for both fans and newcomers. A new adaptation of the Resident Evil video games is being produced, Uncharted has a prequel movie coming out and keeping up with Naughty Dog, there’s The Last of Us HBO adaptation being handled. It’s a series that’s been highly talked about already and for good reason.
For starters, Naughty Dog has really crafted up some truly remarkable storylines and cinematic-feeling video game titles. The Last of Us was such a monster hit across the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, fans are eager to see how the series will handle as a premium television series. The Last of Us has already become quite a household franchise name already, but fans will soon see this series come out after HBO has given production the greenlight.
It looks like Naughty Dog’s creative director, Neil Druckmann, and Craig Mazin from HBO Chernobyl fame will be putting together the series to give not only homage to the video games but likely offer some grander narrative set pieces to help flesh this storyline out even more. So far, there’s nothing confirmed as to who will be taking the role of certain beloved characters, but this greenlight is just one step closer to finding out who will be part of the cast assembled.
