Turtle Rock Studios has revealed some new details for Evolve in its 1st gameplay trailer, which you can see below.
Turtle Rock sells us on the idea of taking on unique roles. The Monster, Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support, each promise to provide a unique experience, and pigeonhole you into particular strategies that is now up to you to master.
For the Hunters, teamwork is important, and TR expects members to call each other out when one or more of them is slacking. For the Monster, of course, the big pitch is a game of hide, power up, and then seek. The Monster is sure to take advantage when teams are not jelling together. In stark contrast, a well organized and prepared team may be up to face a Monster even after it has evolved. They may even seek out the challenge.
Turtle Rock also cites the quirk of essentially playing a boss fight where the boss is a human player. Whether they be friends or total strangers, the trash talk that goes in will have a different taste.
In the end, Turtle Rock’s vision is more of a fun idea than a truly groundbreaking one, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. The important thing is will all these novel ideas add up to something as interesting as it looks on paper? We won't have to wait long, as Evolve is coming to PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One in Q3 of this year.
