Report Claims CD Projekt Red Almost Delayed Cyberpunk 2077 If It Wasn’t For Crunch

October 12, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Developers agreed to continue longer workweeks than delaying the game.

2020 has been a rather rotten year thanks to the coronavirus health pandemic outbreak. From the quarantines, new mandates, testings, and the long wait for a vaccine to come out. Still, the video game industry has been one to continue pushing forward with their anticipated video game and even hardware releases. While most fans are looking at the November release date due to the next-generation platform consoles, there are still quite a few fans out there that are eagerly awaiting next-month in order to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt Red has a brand new video game launch coming out this year. These are the folks that brought out The Witcher trilogy and their next thrilling video game is Cyberpunk 2077. Now we have no doubts that you’re not familiar with this game as it’s been hyped up for well over a year now. In fact, it’s gone through a couple of delays which has left plenty of players a bit bummed out that they are waiting even longer to get a chance to dive into this seemingly massive open-world RPG experience. However, we almost had to endure another delay which would have likely pushed the game back into 2021.

The last delay pushed the game out from its intended September launch into a release in November. Now the most recent news that came out regarding the title is being developed under crunch by the development studio. It’s since been confirmed that CD Projekt Red is working six-day work weeks but the studio has claimed the employees are being well compensated. However, a new report has come out from Game Informer that suggests the development studio gave the employees an option.

There apparently was a decision between delaying the game again or going into a six-day workweek in order to meet the launch deadline. If the report is correct, the studio overwhelmingly agreed to work longer to finish the base game. We, of course, now know the title has reached gold status which means the retail version of the title is completely done and discs can be produced for retail. We’re even getting another Night City Wire this month which will highlight the vehicles players will be able to travel within. For now, it looks like there’s no stopping Cyberpunk 2077 from hitting the marketplace on November 19, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
