Dark Souls 2 Weapon Scaling Guide

March 19, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

This guide is inexact, but it’s a good one to use to get you off the ground.

This is a tentative guide for weapon scaling for Dark Souls 2.

Weapon Scaling, also referred to Parameter Bonus Rating, is a system that determines additional damage a weapon deals out based on your personal stats. From highest to lowest bonus, the ratings run from S, A, B, C, D, and E.

Scaling is calculated from three stats; the weapon’s base damage. It’s scaling percentage, and it’s stat rating, or the bonus you get from the stat. This guide is tentative for now since it’s based on incomplete information. For that reason, we’re only looking at Strength and Dexterity, which increases physical damage (versus magic damage).

So, based on this fan’s latest research, this is the possible Strength and Dexterity scaling, based on rating:

Strength

·         S: above 1.3 x scaling. This could add up to 200 damage.

·         A: approximately 1.2 x scaling. Around 160 to 170 damage.

·         B: approximately 1 x scaling. Around 140 damage.

·         C: approximately 0.7 x scaling. Around 100-110 damage.

·         D: approximately 0.5 x scaling. Around 70-80 damage.

·         E: approximately 0.3 x scaling. Around 50 damage.

Dexterity

·         S: approximately 0.85 x scaling. Around 120 damage.

·         A: approximately 0.75 x scaling. Around 105 damage.

·         B: approximately 0.65 x scaling. Around 90 damage.

·         C: approximately 0.5 x scaling. Around 70 damage.

·         D: no estimates

·         E: no estimates

That’s what we have for now, and this guide comes with some caveats, aside from being made s little early and lacking information. Elemental scaling seems too complicated to figure out at the moment. Quality weapons may also be scaling differently than other weapons. Still, even if we only have estimates, this should give you some idea of what to aim for when analyzing weapon scaling.
