During the PlayStation 5 event last week which highlighted some of the big video game releases slated to hit the PlayStation 5, we got the unveiling of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Mile Morales was a character we’ve seen in Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 and now it looks like we are going to get a game that is purely dedicated to the character and origin story. Details are still a bit scarce, but Insomniac Games has given a few more interesting plot points within the PlayStation Blog.
According to the creative director at Insomniac Games, Brian Horton, the development team made this game to be all about Miles Morales, a character from the Spider-Man universe that the studio absolutely loves. It’s going to be a smaller game in fact the development creator director did state that players can expect a game scope similar to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Overall, this game is set a year after the events of the first Spider-Man video game title where Miles Morales is stuck at the heart of a new war between a high-tech criminal army and an energy corporation.
We are also excited for the game to demonstrate the power of PlayStation 5 this holiday. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will show off near-instant loading, ray-tracing, 3D audio and the DualSense controller. We’ve upgraded our characters with 4D scans and improved skin shading for more realistic looking characters and spline-based hair that moves far more naturally. Many of the city’s assets have also been updated to take advantage of the new console. As you experience Miles’s story, you’ll see, hear, and feel things in a whole new way, all thanks to PS5.
This game will also bring out plenty of detail compared to the original Spider-Man title that launched on the current-generation PlayStation 4. With the power of the PlayStation 5 and components that will help give players a more immersive feeling, Spider-Man: Miles Morales may certainly feel like its own unique game. Unfortunately, we still have to wait a bit before we can get our hands on a copy. So far, the game doesn’t have a release date yet other than a holiday season launch window.
