The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has 36 endings and players will "definitely" want to play more than once according to CD Projekt RED's co-founder Marcin Iwinski.
Speaking to IGN India recently Iwinski revealed that player choice will be central to players' experience of Wild Hunt and that these choices will feed into the game's host of endings:
“All the time, and I think this differentiates us from other games out there. We don’t tell you what matters and what doesn’t, as your actions in the game speak far louder than words. I mean, there are 36 different endings in Wild Hunt.”
When asked to elaborate, Iwinski said that players want to experience the game at least twice.
“Yes. We have an internal debate if it’s 36 or more, but I can tell you that there are many, MANY different endings. You will definitely want to play this game more than once.”
Adam Badowski, CD Projekt RED's managing director, said in March of last year that:
"The game is quite complex, we didn't mean to develop something special for the ending, it's a natural consequence for the storyline. The story has hundreds of different branches and sub plots. We have to just sum all of those elements up in the epilogues. Some of these elements are taken from the very beginning and some from other moments in the storyline. All of them will connect to the epilogue."
Badowski said that there are three different playable epilogues which are determined by player choice.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year.
