PlatinumGames has been around for several years now and they have turned out some big video game titles that were popular among several marketplaces. One of those franchises that turned out to be a big hit was Bayonetta. The series only has two installments yet people still thoroughly enjoy this intense action-packed IP as we take the role of a witch that can deliver a barrage of attacks against all sorts of enemies.
Despite only having two installments out right now, it was confirmed that Bayonetta 3 was in development back in 2017. This installment is going to be a Nintendo Switch title though since then we haven’t seen anything regarding the IP. It’s tough to really showcase what fans can expect from this next installment or if this could be the end of the franchise. At any rate, it wasn’t long ago that PlatinumGames head, Atsushi Inaba, and game director Hideki Kamiya, was able to speak with VGC and offer a quick insight on the game.
During the interview we got word on the current status of Bayonetta 3. According to Hideki Kamiya, Bayonetta comes up daily on Twitter and it’s a joy to see so many fans ask about the franchise and wonder where Bayonetta 3 is at this point. Since it’s been a good while, there are some fans wondering if this third installment was just outright cancelled.
“I’m on Twitter so I see a lot of comments every day. I’m happy that there’s still anticipation for the title, but one thing I would like to address is the trend I’m seeing which is people who are starting to ask if the game has been cancelled. I want you guys to take any concerns you have like that and throw them out the window immediately because we’re still hard at work on it and it hasn’t been cancelled by any means. Please look forward to it!”

According to the developer, this game is far from being cancelled and is instead still being worked on regularly though we’re not sure just when this game would see a release or if it will show up anytime soon during a Nintendo Direct. In other news, PlatinumGames debunked the Microsoft purchase rumors and the studio’s thoughts on the next-generation platforms lacking some big reveals.
