Call of Duty Ghosts Ameli Guide

January 12, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The Ameli’s high damage serves to cement its role as the ultimate defensive gun.

This is a guide for the Ameli in Call of Duty Ghosts.

The Ameli’s damage is quite high for an LMG. It is the only gun in its class that can kill with two shots, headshot or not. However, at a distance that falls to four shots, three with one headshot. When you’re at that range, it’s important to stay in a good cover position.

Rate of fire is low at 631 rounds per minute. Hipfiring is also poor, meaning you’ll get outclassed by SMGs if push comes to shove. Proper targeting is essential to making the most of that measly rate of fire.

Recoil is moderate, and disciplining yourself in short bursts will both help you manage the amount of bullets you have better, as well as limit the effects of recoil. It’s not a particularly accurate gun, but you can outlast your enemies in a gunfight if you play smart. Aim time is slow at 350 milliseconds, as well as movement speed, so any way you look at it, the Ameli requires deliberate, disciplined play.

Magazine capacity is to your advantage, with 100 rounds per magazine. Who needs extended magazines in such a gun? Reload time is terrible at a full seven seconds, so you really do need to make each round count.

As a defensive gun, the Ameli requires players who are resilient, able to stick it out and know what it takes to survive an onslaught. It is perfect for defensive lockdown, repelling attackers who get too close effectively.

The muzzle brake can extend its range, eliminating a key weakness your enemies will otherwise take advantage of. Again, the foregrip is useful in reducing that recoil, allowing you to take advantage of automatic fire.

Blast Shield is priority among your Perks. It neutralizes your enemies’ ranged attack options and draws them in to where you are at the advantage. TAC Resist is also a good pick, taking any apprehensions you may have facing grenades. ICU is the key health recovery Perk. While you’re on guard, you’ll also want to make use of the Trophy system, as well as the Extra Perk slot. Use that Extra Perk to bring in Armor Piercing Rounds, or Rapid Killstreak.
