CES is upon us, and Samsung has just announced a 105-inch ultra-HD TV that puts to shame any existing TV set currently available on the market. At 105 inches large, the TV displays at ultra-high definition, or 2160p. This 4K TV is even curved to protect its viewing angles.
Anyone who’s ever played a video game on triple monitors can attest to the advantage offered by such a set-up, which is why many racing, first-person shooter and flight simulation enthusiasts do it.
Instead of having three large monitors, Samsung allows a single monitor to do the job of all three monitors on a single, gigantic screen. Doing so also might allow consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, two devices that can only run on a single display, to play games the way PCs hooked up to three monitors do.
Unfortunately, neither system is capable of running games at 4K—not yet, anyway. But that shouldn’t stop PC gaming enthusiasts from using the TV the way it’s intended, once it’s released.
Samsung’s curved ultra high-definition TV offers a glimpse at the future, and there’s more where it came from as other TV manufacturers jump on the bandwagon.
