If you’re not exactly jumping for joy over everything you’ve seen of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, don’t get too worked up over it. This is just a single offshoot of one of the most popular action series out there, which will continue in a more traditional manner down the line. Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi recently spoke of future titles in the series during a video chat, translated by Siliconera.
"As we've talked about Yaiba, there have been some Ninja Gaiden fans who have said Yaiba's not the hardcore action game that they're looking for," Hayashi said. "Honestly, they're a little hesitant about the game.
"To those people I say this: Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden. For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z would be dessert. Every course of the meal would be in the same Ninja Gaiden world, but gamers will experience different kinds of play. That's how Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be different."
I’m not too sure I’d call Ninja Gaiden 3 rich, meaty, or anything close to a steak, but that’s just me. Hopefully, the next big game featuring Ryu Hayabusa can reclaim the series’ former gory glory.
