It wasn’t that long ago that before Sony and Microsoft entered the console market that the real heated competition for sales was between Nintendo and Sega. Back during the days of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo was competing against Sega and their 16-bit home video game console, the Sega Genesis or Mega Drive depending on where you’re located in the world. While the consoles had their exclusives and fan base, there was plenty of jabs from Sega towards Nintendo to get more eyes on their console platform.
If you were around during the ads shown off for the Sega Genesis then you may have remembered the marketing campaign known as Genesis Does. This was a few commercial runs showcasing a variety of video game titles that you can get with the console and it even sparked the Genesis Does What Nintendon’t phrase.
With so man mini consoles making a jump into the market after the success Nintendo had with the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System classic editions, it wasn’t too surprising to see Sega offer a Genesis option into the mix. Just like the other consoles classic editions that released prior, the Sega Genesis Mini will also come packed with several classic video game titles featured originally on the Sega Genesis platform along with two controllers and a miniature size console.
Currently, the Sega Genesis Mini will feature over forty video game titles and will set players back $79.99 when it releases this September 19, 2019.
