‘Great Progress’ Made on Homefront 2 Says Crytek

October 4, 2013 by Stephen Daly

The sequel will ‘reinvent’ the franchise.

Crytek's Nick Button-Brown has told the latest edition of Develop that the studio is "making great progress" on the sequal to THQ's Homefront and they aspire to "reinvent" the franchise; as spotted by VideoGamer.

Button-Brown revealed that "the team in Nottingham – Crytek UK – is making great progress on our reinvention of Homefront," and that the developer has "a number of projects we haven't talked about yet."

Crytek UK developed the multiplayer modes for both Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. The studio has been working on the Homefront sequel since 2011 when Kaos Studio, the original game's developer, closed.

Following the collapse of THQ Crytek bought the rights to the Homefront series and delayed the game's release.

Homefront takes place in a future in which a united Korea has conquered the United States. Players assumed the role of a freedom fighter takiing on the invaders. While Crytek is "reinventing" Homefront 2 it's likely the story will progress from this point. Previously Crytek said there was "no tangible change" to the game's development as a result of THQ's troubles.
