Hidden Cortana Audio Discovered From Halo Infinite E3 2019 Trailer

July 30, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

Looks like Cortana is making a return in some shape or form.

Halo is a massively beloved franchise that gamers have been enjoying since the original Xbox, that may predate some of the gamers that are now enjoying the franchise today. With such a big following, it wasn’t surprising to see threads on forums and Reddit goes wild with speculation from trailers and info released. The last main trailer released for the upcoming Halo Infinite title was during E3 2019 at the Microsoft press conference. It’s been over a month since the trailer released and today it looks like a fan discovered something new that adds towards the mass speculation threads.

Halo Infinite’s E3 2019 trailer didn’t show off anything in terms of story. We know that the premise will take place on a Halo Ring and that humanity is essentially considered defeated. With that said, there is a small piece of the trailer that resembles a stretched out QR code. One fan discovered the code and formed it to become normal enough for it to be read. After running it through a QR reader it was linked to a small thirty-second audio clip.

This audio clip has a few ominous sound effects followed by footsteps. From there we get a small voice clip of the Cortana character. We won’t go deep into the lore here and anything we say will just add to speculation so nothing is confirmed, but it looks like there is a fragment of Cortana that is still around. During the clip Cortana says “This, this is part of me. I don’t know why, I don’t know how, but it is me.”

This is how I got it, took multiple screenshots of the red bars and put them all together, then I had to make the QR code pic.twitter.com/Rjitz6W2Sw

Again, purely speculation going around the web, but perhaps a fragment was attached to something or someone else. It’s curious to see how the development studio, 343 Industries, adds the character into the narrative story. However, it will be a good while before we’ll get that answer as Halo Infinite will be releasing towards the end of 2020 which means that we’ll get a good section of Microsoft’s E3 2020 press conference featuring the game.
