Review Roundup: Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is a Great Remake Title of the Orignal

June 25, 2019 by Jordan Biazzo

Ready for some competitive kart racing?

Beenox is back at it again with another Crash Bandicoot remake title and this time they tackle the critically acclaimed racing title — Crash Team Racing!

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is an updated version of the original filled with new content, enhanced graphics, and smoother gameplay! From looking at reviews, the game is looking pretty good especially for those who loved the original. First-time Crash Team Racers will find a ton of fun in it as well!

Down below are some of the most respectable gaming sites in the industry, check out the highlights for their reviews on Beenox’s latest remake title — Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled:

Gameranx: Before You Buy

PlayStation LifeStyle 90

Whether playing the respectfully challenging campaign mode to unlock all kinds of parts, stickers, and more, or skirmishing with strangers and friends both online and off, those who have fond memories of the original will get their money’s worth out of the racer, without a doubt. The sliding mechanic still takes some getting used to after all these years, but it just wouldn’t be CTR without it.

IGN 82

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s difficulty, memorable track design, and addictive power-slide mechanic make it a kart racer worth playing but it’s not without its frustrations.

GameSpot 80

Simply put: This is a remaster done right. Nitro-Fueled maintains the spirit and rock-solid foundations of a childhood favorite while building on it and modernizing it where necessary–even if the handling might take a bit of getting used to. Adventure mode’s classic variant feels a little tough, but your first race on Roo’s Tubes or Sewer Speedway will bring a nostalgic grin to your face regardless. When the nostalgia fades, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled remains fun and engaging enough to keep you racing on with a smile on your face for much longer yet. It’s good to have Crash back.

Game Informer 80

Crash Team Racing is every bit as good now as it was back in the day. Naughty Dog created something special with the boosting system, and I urge everyone who enjoys arcade racers of this variety to give it a shot. Beenox’s enhancements only make it better.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled is now available for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Are you excited for the latest Crash remake? Let us know in the comments below!
