Dragon Age: Inquisition Pushing All Five Platforms ‘to Breaking Point’

August 6, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Inquisition will take the Xbox One and PS4 to their limits.

BioWare is rebooting the Dragon Age franchise after the lackluster reception of the second game. A stunted development window pair with the overall smaller scope of the game world led to more than a few fans raising an eyebrow after Dragon Age 2 released a few years ago, but with Inquisition, the RPG-focused team is taking its sweet time. We haven’t heard too much about the game since a trailer debuted during EA’s E3 press conference, but thanks to the new cover reveal by Game Informer, we can now enjoy the first bit of pre-alpha footage and an extended interview with a few of the game’s developers.

Inquisition will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. That’s quite a few platforms to develop for, but according to BioWare, the game is pushing each and every piece of hardware to their respective limits.

“I think with Dragon Age, we’re pushing all five platforms as far as we can. Just right to the edge of their breaking point,” the developers said. “There are things we’re seeing in Dragon Age in terms of what you can do as a character, moving around in the environment, and this incredible level of interactivity. We’re working on Frostbite, we’re all sharing technology, and building something really special together.”

We won’t be seeing just how far the series has come until later next year, so for now, we’ll just have to take the each of these excited creators at their word.
