Want to unlock unique melee weapons in Battlefield 5? You’ll need to hunt down all the collectible letters in each War Story campaign. The singleplayer story might be short, and there aren’t any achievements / trophies to unlock for grabbing every letter, but it’s still worth it if you want to expand your melee weapon selection.
The weapons can be added to your multiplayer loadout. You’ll get a Cricket Bat, Soveig’s Knife, and the Coupe Coupe machete. They’re all pretty cool. You’ll unlock one melee weapon for each campaign — you’ll need to complete all the challenges, and get all the hidden letters. Letters are (usually) the hardest things to find. You’ll need to search every corner of the map to get them all, and some of them are pretty well hidden.

War Story #1: Under No Flag
- Part 1: Crossing Lines:
- Letter #1: Enter the “Fishing Hut” near the very start, when you get the objective to follow Mason. When you get close to a collectible letter, the location will be marked.
- Letter #2: After the fight encounter, you’ll enter a very large area. Go up to the central “Hillside Plateau” to find the letter on the ground.
- Letter #3: In the same area, follow the road to the hangar. On the ride, there’s a halftrack on the side of the ride. Follow the path right to the water and enter the bushes at the “Riverbank” zone.
- Part 2: Butcher and Bolt
- Letter #1: Found in the Abandoned Hut, near the start of the map, to the left. There are two guards and a parked car outside.
- Letter #2: Just outside the Radar Station objective, find the pile of rocks marking the trail at the Village Overlook.
- Letter #3: Go toward the Comms Station. On the way, you’ll reach an area called Basin’s Edge. There’s another stack of rocks with the letter nearby, just off the road.
- Letter #4: From the Comms Station objective, go toward the airfield. There’s another pile of rocks on the side of the road. Find the rocky path up to the previous objective, the letter is on the ground.
- Letter #5: In the lake, find the small island with a cluster of palm trees. This area is also marked with a pile of rocks.
- Letter #6: Go to the Ridge Line just at the far edge of the airfield. There’s a watchtower down this way. The letter is on the ground, in the dirty nearby.
