Nintendo Requires Weekly Online Check For NES Video Games

September 18, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Gamers can enjoy NES titles offline for seven days.

There have been a few details released regarding the online subscription service that Nintendo is rolling out. Since the release of the Nintendo Switch, gamers were able to enjoy the online gameplay and features free of charge, but the video game industry giant did confirm that an online subscription service would be coming soon. Now that we’re gearing up to purchase the online subscription service, we are finding out even more details surrounding the service.

One of the incentives to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online subscription is the availability of NES video game titles. Much like Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo will add a few NES video game titles to enjoy free of charge, just as long as you keep up with your subscription service. As it turns out, that when you download the NES video games, you won’t have to stay online to enjoy them.

However, besides downloading the games, Nintendo will require an online check every week. After seven days, players will need to go online so that Nintendo can make sure you have an active subscription service. As previously reported, there will be a total of twenty NES video game titles included into the subscription service on day one.

NES Video Games
  • Soccer
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Ghosts ‘n Goblins
  • Excitebike
  • Tennis
  • Balloon Fight
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Techmo Bowl
  • Yoshi
  • Donkey Kong
  • Ice Climber
  • Double Dragon
  • Gradius
  • Ice Hockey
  • Mario Bros.
  • Dr. Mario
  • River City Ransom
  • Pro Wrestling
  • Baseball

For those unfamiliar with the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, this will grant players access to online gameplay features along with exclusive deals and NES video game titles. This subscription service will set players back $20.00 a year which is fairly discounted in comparison to other platform console subscription services.
