There’s a surprising figure you may not expect is skeptical about how successful GTA 6 is going to be.

In a new interview with CNBC show Squawk Box, host Andrew Ross Sorkin asked Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick about how they have to deliver on the excitement and hype for the game. Andrew even pointed out that his own children have been waiting for GTA 6 themselves.
Strauss said this:
You know, we never claim victory before it occurs. Uh, I know that our Rockstar Games division has tried to innovate and understand that as great as the anticipation is, we need to exceed expectations. Um, I believe that we will.
This may seem surprising as you would expect Strauss to overhype GTA 6. But Strauss speaks to how the glowing predictions analysts have of high GTA 6 sales can flip on them if they don’t meet those numbers.
As we’ve said before, this could be interpreted as financial analysts giving Take-Two and Rockstar enough rope to hang themselves with. So one can understand why Strauss and Take-Two would be wary of taking that supposed praise on its face.
