Sony has released a new video showing off the PS4's interface and revealing that you'll be able to choose to download a game's multiplayer or single-player component first.
We see one of the people in the video, Will, prompted to buy Killzone: Shadow Fall by his friend. With a simple button touch Will quits Knack and enters the PlayStation Store selecting Shadow Fall. He's then asked whether he wants the multiplayer or single player element of the game first. Making his choice, he reverts to playing to Knack.
It's been known for some time that you'll be able to play Shadow Fall after just the first level and main menu have been downloaded. Sony has said you'll be able to play games while they're downloading but we now know just how little data you'll need on your system before you can do so.
Guerrilla's technical director Michiel van der Leeuw explained the feature saying "You're going to download a chunk of the game, get the menu and first level, and while you're playing the first level we can start downloading the second in the background. Then the third and so on."
CD Projekt Red has also commented on the feature in relation to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The PlayStation 4 is set to be released later this year with Shadow Fall as a launch title; Wild Hunt is set to be released next year.
