Eidos Life President says ‘A Whole Generation’ Will Miss out on Nintendo’s games

June 5, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Eidos life president thinks Nintendo should put their games on multiple platforms.

Nintendo, no matter what people seem to ask for, will move at their own pace.

At the Bristol Games Hub, Eidos life president, Ian Livingstone, opened the event by speaking about Nintendo's position with future generations.

When speaking of the value of protecting intellectual properties over the publisher's platform, Livingstone said that "Nintendo should have their IP on every platform, otherwise a whole generation of young people will miss out on their games."

Last year Nintendo reported their first annual financial loss since Nintendo first started publically reporting its yearly earnings in 1981.

Many people, despite not knowing that Nintendo continued to turn profits every year until 2012, advocate that Nintendo should branch out to other platforms to also include the smartphone market.

Sega first started publishing their games on multiple platforms following the unsuccessful iterations of Sega hardware. You can now purchase a Sonic title on almost every platform available.

Even with the first loss, don't expect Nintendo steer away from the idea of selling hardware.

When speaking about potentially releasing Nintendo games on smartphones, Nintendo CEO, Satura Iwata, said "If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo. Having a hardware development team in-house is a major strength. "

With so much value attached to each of Nintendo's franchises, don't expect Nintendo to take the route of Sega any time soon; even with the poor sales of the Wii U.
