EA has the German based developer Ghost Games are currently developing Need for Speed: Rivals which has been dated for 19th November on current generation consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have not yet been dated.
Need for Speed: Rivals is being produced using DICE's Frostbite 3 engine EA has announced meaning it's highly unlikely Wii U owners will get their hands on the title, Frostbite 3 does not currently support Nintendo's platform.
Rivals sees aspects of Criterion Games' Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit combined with elements of Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The game's broad open world, known as Redview County, will allow gamers to take on the role of either a racer of a police officer. Vehicles in the game will be highly customisable while single-player and multiplayer will be seamlessly integrated using the new AllDrive feature which allows for drop-in drop-out gameplay.
Autolog, the series' social tracking tool, will also be making a comeback. Genre fans can also look forward to Gran Turismo 6 for PS3, DriveClub for PS4 and Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One.
