No EA Games are Being Developed for Wii U

May 16, 2013 by Stephen Daly

No EA games in sight for Wii U owners.

EA has revealed to Kotaku that it currently has no games in development for Nintendo's Wii U despite promising an "unprecidented partnership" with the platform holder two years ago.

"We have no games in development for the Wii U currently," Jeff Brown, an EA representative, commented.

Nintendo's platform received ports of Mass Effect 3, FIFA 13, Need for Speed Most Wanted and Madden however all of those titles were already available on other platforms months in advance. EA's biggest releases of the year so far, including Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3, have skipped the Wii U while upcoming major titles such as FIFA 14 have not being announced for the platform.

Given Brown's statement it seems unlikely EA Canada's multi-million unit title will be headed to Nintendo's platform anytime soon.

Other significant EA games including Battlefield 4, Dragon Age 3: Inquistion, the next Mass Effect and all of EA's upcoming Star Wars games are set to bypass the Wii U too; the Frostbite 3 engine – which all of those games use – does not currently function on Wii U.

Mass Effect 3's DLC also skipped Nintendo's console.

EA supported the Wii throughout its lifespan with Wii-first and Wii-exclusive titles such as MySims. It seems however that such support will not be forthcoming for the Wii U.
