Warner Bros. Games Montreal intends for Batman: Arkham Origins to emulate a film noir look with its look and feel. Speaking in a developer diary exclusive to GameInformer, the game's art director Jeremy Price wants to depict Batman as a supernatural, mysterious force on the streets of Gotham.
To emphasize the mystery of the surrounding character, the team intends to use plenty of silhouettes and film noir-esque lighting techniques to create an imposing figure of the Dark Knight.
According to Price, Arkham Origins is set on Christmas Eve, and as such, much of Gotham is decked out in Christmas decorations which may appear scary rather than jolly due to the colors, lighting, and the way they're depicted in the scenes.
As the game is being developed as a prequel, Price says Batman's early point in his career will be reflected in his suit, which appears to be more 'assembled' rather than 'manufactured' as it looks in the Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games, which take place after the events of Arkham Origins.
The game is set for release later this year on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.
