Game & Wario Might Actually Be Good After All

April 3, 2013 by Matt Hawkins

Though a proper WarioWare for the Wii U would still be much preferred.

Anyone who went to the Nintendo booth at this year's PAX East more than likely headed straight towards the Game & Wario demo station.

Aside from there being fans of the WarioWare franchise, from which Game & Wario seems to be at least tangentially connected to, it was one of the few new Wii U games that Nintendo had to show.

And ask any of those who gave the offered mini games a spin, they'll all echo the same sentiment: exceptionally boring and extremely disappointing. But those who have written the game off should watch the following.

As it turns out, Game & Wario actually looks fun! It's a total mystery why Nintendo of America has chosen to demonstrate the banal mini games that they have been, while the following looks a thousand percent more fun.

Alas, not all of the games in Game & Wario follow that same mode, but again, it's not necessarily the end of the world. Be sure to head on over to Destructoid where plenty of other excellent examples are highlighted.

Here's another. And while it’s entirely clear what exactly happens in the Pirates mini game (no doubt there is some kind of specific application of the Wii U GamePad that we are not privy to in the YouTube clio), at the very least, it has colorful, animated visuals, and funky music, reminiscent of Rhythm Heaven:

Game & Wario was released in Japan last week, while there remains no word on an American release.
