Assassin’s Creed 4 Release Date and Box Art Leaked

March 1, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

The box art and release date for Assassin’s Creed 4 are now known.

Ubisoft has launched what appears to be a countdown page for the next Assassin's Creed title, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. For a couple hours, it was possible to access a hidden page on the site by appending "v" to the end of the URL, which would bring visitors to a page with the full details on the game's release date and the platforms Ubisoft plans to release the game on.

For those not in the know, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is the next episode of the long-running Assassin's Creed franchise and is set to offer adventures on the high seas, building upon the success of AC3's ship missions.

Although Ubisoft has yet to fix the error, so the cat's out of the bag and we now know when Assassin's Creed 4 is coming out and for what platforms it'll be on.

Just as the image above indicates, the game is set for release on October 29 for current generation platforms, including the PC, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Like the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed 3, the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed 4 comes with an additional 60 minutes of "exclusive gameplay", presumably a series of missions.

The game is also confirmed for release on next-generation platforms including the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's as-yet-unrevealed console.

Once pre-orders go live, those who pre-order the title will also receive Todd McFarlane-designed posters as an added incentive.

In addition to the leaked details, the box art for the game can be seen below.
