With the free-to-play market seemingly booming, EA is making efforts to streamline its F2P label and gaming hub — Play4Free — by consolidating it with its Origin digital store.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, Play4Free was launched in 2008 and went live a year after with the launch of Battlefield Heroes. To date, it has seven titles under it including the highly-successful, Battlefield Play4Free, Need for Speed World and more. Even with the consolidation in effect, some of the publisher's F2P games aren't integrated into Origin. One example is Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, which, while a F2P game, is still not part of the Play4Free brand.
Origin now has a free gaming section on its store with links to all of EA's F2P games. This same section also hosts some of EA's other more casual-friendly games like Crossfire, World Whomp and Monopoly: The World Edition.
Not a bad move by EA to make sure its F2P games get more attention by having it on Origin. As someone who tried Battlefield Play4Free, it's not a bad game by any stretch at all. I doubt it will replace any of the main Battlefield games anytime soon, but for a free game, it's not as bad as some people might think.
Have you tried any F2P games? If so, which ones are the best you've tried so far?
