EA has finally announced the release date of one of its big games for 2013. I am, of course, referring to Crytek's Crysis 3, which seeks to help the publisher's goal in securing the shooter market for the first-quarter of next year.
While EA has announced before that Crysis 3 will be out in February, it now has a firm release date of February 19 for the U.S. and February 21 for EU.
Seeing as its release is but a two months away, EA is ramping up the marketing effort by introducing the "7 Wonders of Crysis 3" web series, which highlights Crytek's CryEngine 3 and how it's going to produce things that are "leaps and bounds" over its predecessors.
Aside from that, Crytek has also released Crysis 3's PC requirements and if you want the game to run on its highest settings, you're going to have to spend quite a bit. Not that surprising since the original Crysis was considered to be a graphical powerhouse when it was released and Crysis 3 seems to be no different from the in-game screenshots we've seen.
For actual gameplay, Crytek has already showed of Crysis 3's new "Hunter" mulitplayer mode. Watch a clip of it here. Finally, here's what fans can expect from Crysis 3's "Hunter Edition" and the exclusive contents it will offer.
So, mark February 19 down as the date when you'll once again take on aliens in New York. Oddly enough, EA has another big game releasing that month and its Visceral's Dead Space 3. While both games are targeting different demographics, they still might cannibalize each other's sales, no?
Which game are you getting in February? Will it be Crysis 3 or Dead Space 3? Should EA move one of the game's release so they won't eat up each other's sales?
