THQ Execs Spend Big on Own Humble Bundle, Company Stock Jumps Close to 40 Percent

December 3, 2012 by Alex Co

THQ’ stock rises by 40 percent due to their Humble Bundle…the company’s own bosses spend big on it, too.

Just last week, we mentioned that THQ was jumping in the Humble Bundle bandwagon with their own list of games for you to purchase at any price you see fit. These games, which include Darksiders 1, Metro 2033, Red Faction: Armageddon, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts and CoH: Tales of Valor and the original Company of Heroes can all be had for as low as $1 and if you spend more than $6, you'll even get a free copy of Saints Row: The Third, too.

While it's a good deal for gamers, it seems the Humble Bundle was also a good move for the publisher as it saw its stock rise by 37.96% on release day to over $1.60 a share. But by the market's close on Friday, it was back down to $1.45 a share — which is still a vast improvement compared to the pre-bundle price of $1.07 per share on November 28.

Also of note, a few of the biggest supporters of THQ's Humble Bundle was none other than the publisher's bosses. Brian Farrell, THQ CEO, spent $1650 for the bundle. He's followed by World of Tanks developer Wargaming.net which has paid $1,600 and even THQ's president newly-appointed president Jason Rubin helped out by shelling $1,050 for the collection.

However, the biggest spender is an anonymous contributor named "McJohn," and he/she has paid $1,650.01 to be the current top spender.

At the time of this writing, THQ has sold 528,470 Humble Bundles and people have about nine more days to buy the lot at a very discounted price. For those interested, you can check out the bundle and buy it here.

Have you bought the bundle yet and please don't tell me that it's too expensive, alright?

Thanks, GamesIndustry
