Super Hexagon Available on Steam

Super Hexagon arrived on Steam yesterday, a couple of months after it first launched on iOS to much acclaim. For those who don't know what Super Hexagon is, it's described as a “minimal action game”, and was created by indie developer Terry Cavanagh (who also made, for instance, VVVVVV).

To play, you move a little triangle left or right around the centre of the screen to guide it through the gaps in various walls that are closing in on it. The walls sometimes make up a square, sometimes a hexagon. They rotate. The whole game flashes bright colours to the sound of retro-styled music from Chipzel. And everything moves very quickly, which makes the game incredibly difficult, and thus incredibly satisfying once mastered. What looks like a simple game you'd become bored of in seconds might actually keep you playing far longer than other more complex games, as you strive to better your score.

Sound tempting? For its first week of availability on Steam, Super Hexagon is discounted by 33%, making it only £1.33 ($2.13 at today's exchange rate, but tell me if the site lists a different price for those in the U.S.). If you prefer to play on a big screen versus your smartphone or tablet, now's your chance.
